The wonderful movie above explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world combining iPad and light painting. It is the goal of Dentsu London, the creative comunications agency together with BERG.

They use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad.

It also offers a detailed understanding of each three words. “Making”, with its emphasis on craftsmanship, understanding of materials and media, and collaboration;“Future”, meaning something not seen before, something new and unexpected (not so much sci-fi, as near-future);and “Magic” – surprising, culturally powerful, unusual, capable of delighting.

Quite a lot of patients to put something like this together. Really amazing stuff!

The video above is a short film of a 1,520 s.f building called Private Library designed by New York architect Andrew Berman as a library and studio for a writer as his dream project.

Commissioned to design a writing studio in the woods in Long Island, he grabbed the challenge and created a building which seems to float in a sea of foliage.

The short film, while informative conveys the tranquility of the building by simply inviting you to enter and experience the pace of the writer’s world inside. Not much left to say. Experience it on your own.

Matthew Collings has a wonderfully simple and funny way of making you understand the when, where, why and how of important is art so this programme will get your head around impressionism in a couple of hours.
Matthew Collings will reappraise the Impressionists. The four stars are Courbet, Manet, Monet and Cezanne. In two hours their stories and their art will intertwine.
Matt will unpack the principles of Impressionism – the strength of color, the flatness, the patterning and the way in which ordinary life is pictured with startling truth – and argue that this is the best thing that has ever happened in modern art.
He will also show that although the contemporary art world seemingly despises Impressionism it is only because of Impressionism that the avant-garde came to be.
